Year 7 pupil Asad Syed won five matches out of five at the Lancashire Chess Association Junior Congress and has been crowned the Lancashire ‘Queens group’ winner. Asad, who has played chess for a year and a half, received a certificate, trophy and the book ‘A History of Lancashire Chess from 1871-2011’ as his prize for winning.

Earlier in the year, he again won five-in-five at his first ever Chess competition for Lancashire. This week, Asad brought his latest trophy into school to show his form group, who applauded his success at the competition.

From everyone at QEGS, congratulations Asad, keep playing!
