Sixth Form art students visited Yorkshire Sculpture Park, accompanied by Mr Braime and Mr Windle.

As well as the outstanding permanent collection at the park, there was an exhibition by the portuguese artist Joana Vasconcelos as well as extraordinary new large-scale sculptures by Damien Hirst.

The students were blessed to experience Henry Moore and Barbara Hepworth’s iconic sculptures displayed amongst the rolling Yorkshire hills and were stunned by the illusion achieved by Juame Pensa’s trick perspective and impressed by the scale and playfulness of Hirst’s latest works.

The indoor Vasconcelos exhibition was particularly inspiring, dealing with themes of womanhood, feminism, Portuguese culture and individualism.

Our students had an enjoyable day seeing the wide variety of sculptural work and large scale artworks.
