We were delighted to invite MCS Projects Ltd into QEGS for our Year 9 Medical Day.

Pupils took part in engaging sessions focusing on emergency first aid. They were taught how to place an unconscious person into the recovery position, carried out CPR on medical dummies and learnt how to deal with a person who was choking.  Pupils thoroughly enjoyed this experience taking away a lot of important skills.

In the afternoon, there was an optional session for pupils and students with an interest in medicine. Katie Rooney – final-year medical student at the University of Manchester and Mia Slade –  fourth-year medical student at Lancaster University shared some excellent advice on applying for Medical School and the pros and cons of a career in medicine.

Thank you to John Waterworth – Project Manager for Medical Careers Events and Science & Technology Challenge Days from MCS Projects Ltd, Junior Doctors – Dr Ali Chababi and Dr Antonia Perumal – both first-year doctors [F1] working in Blackburn Hospital and medical students Katie and Mia for a very successful and enjoyable day.
