On Tuesday 26th September, the whole of Year 9 took part in the first of three ‘Creative Days’.
Creative Days are designed to enrich our curriculum offer so that pupils benefit from a full range of educational experiences.
The first ‘Creative Day’ focused on Art. Pupils visited The Yorkshire Sculpture Park in Wakefield, one of the country’s most prestigious outdoor Art galleries. The permanent collection includes iconic works by such artists as Henry Moore, Barbara Hepworth, Anthony Caro and Andy Goldsworthy.
One year 9 pupil said; “The trip allowed me to break out of my metaphorical shell that confined me to a certain drawing style, the artist that was leading the group I was a part of, made us explore how to draw in a unique way.”
Another pupil said: “The day was really enjoyable. The best part of the day was creating a small sculpture out of clay.”
The next creative day will focus on DT (food) and Music.
