Year 4 were lucky enough to visit the fortified Manor House, Hoghton Tower. Children dressed up in traditional Tudor costumes, before exploring the many rooms and halls that the Level 1 heritage site has to offer; a select few children were even knighted in the banqueting hall!
After lunch, children were given the opportunity to muse over the Tower’s fine doll house collection, before braving the site’s underground passageways. The children were encapsulated by the tower’s staff and their encyclopaedic knowledge of both the history of the house and King James I’s subsequent visit in August of 1617.
On behalf of QEGS, the Year 4 Form Tutors would like to thank Hoghton Tower and their guides for making the visit one that neither staff or children will forget in a hurry.
