In a truly inspiring assembly, Year 13 student Rayhan Motara took the stage to raise awareness about Kidney Health, focusing on the vital topics of dialysis and kidney transplantation.
The assembly, held in recognition of World Kidney Day on March 13th, 2025, captivated everyone with Rayhan’s personal journey and commitment to spreading awareness of this important cause.
Rayhan’s story is one of perseverance and strength. Last year, while in Year 12, he underwent a kidney transplant, with his father selflessly donating one of his kidneys to save his son’s life. Despite the significant health challenge, Rayhan maintained an incredible positive outlook. During his dialysis treatments, he continued to complete homework and coursework, demonstrating immense determination to stay on track with his academic goals.
Today, Rayhan is on track to achieve his place at the University of Manchester, where he plans to study Computer Science and Mathematics with Industrial Experience. His resilience and focus throughout such an arduous journey are an inspiration to his peers and teachers alike.
As part of his mission to raise awareness and support continued research into kidney health, Rayhan has launched a JustGiving page. He hopes to raise much-needed funds to support kidney research and help make a difference for people in need. Rayhan’s initiative is a testament to his generous spirit and desire to help others facing similar challenges.
The assembly was not only a chance to celebrate Rayhan’s triumph over adversity but also a call to action for everyone to contribute to important kidney research. Rayhan’s dedication serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of kidney health and the profound impact one person’s determination can have on others.
