Students studying History A level are using alternative learning methods to develop their understanding of modern history, including the fall of the Berlin Wall and Ostpolitik.

Year 12 students most recently had to deliver a presentation on life in East Germany, which not only encouraged them to bring the topic to life visually, but also developed their communication skills as they grow their skills outside of their classroom ahead of many of them wishing to pursue University places.

In History, students have also used Billy Joel’s ‘We didn’t start the fire’ to learn about the Cold War for Key Stage 5 study, as well as holding debates in class about the success of Ostpolitik in the 1960’s.
