Pupils in Year 8 travelled back in time to experience World War 1.

Bill Smith of World War 1 workshops held exciting and interactive workshops for our Year 8 historians. Pupils were taken on a journey through the lives of two soldiers, one an old boy of the school and another a Muslim soldier who served in the Indian army.

Pupils handled equipment that was over 100 years old including medals, tinned food, gas masks, grenades, artillery shells and more. Pupils enjoyed the session with many leaving to find out more and discover their family’s role in the great war.

Many thanks to Bill Smith an outstanding speaker and presenter, with one student commenting, it’s like I was there in the trenches!
