Dear Parents and Carers,
I hope you are all keeping safe and well and have enjoyed the home learning grid so far.
From Monday, we have a new email address which will be used for all the communication from pupils who are continuing to work from home on the ‘home learning grids’. This is: homelearning@qegsblackburn.com
This email address should be used for all queries relating to home learning, such as sending the amazing photos of work that the children are undertaking, asking questions about the home learning and asking for additional resources.
If you email class teachers directly, they may take longer to answer your emails. They are returning to school next week and will be working with new ‘bubbles’ of children, as we welcome back EYFS pupils and continue to work with our growing number of Key Worker children. This will therefore require them to plan the learning for the pupils in school and set up resources, which will of course make it difficult for staff to check emails during the day.
It is really important that you are aware we will continue to provide work for pupils completing work at home in the same way as previous weeks. And of course, the staff are happy to answer your questions and continue to support you as much as possible.
This new email address will allow all staff members to access the ‘inbox’ throughout the day, respond to questions and for all of the team to see the brilliant work being done at home!
Best and safest wishes,
Mrs Southworth and the Primary Phase Team

Dear Parents and Carers,
We have come to the end of another half term, I don’t know where time is going! Thank you so much for all you continued support, hard work at home and for all the lovely photos and videos we have been sent. We hope you have enjoyed all the videos that have been shared on our social media. We are incredibly proud of you all!
The home learning grids that we sent out at last Friday were for two weeks of learning, however, it is half term next week and we want you to know that the home learning for next week is optional. Yes, you can have a rest! I will be asking the teachers to have a much needed break too and not check their emails daily. Therefore, any of the work that you send through will be responded to from Monday, 1st June. We will be sending out new home learning grids from this date and will continue to update you with new information as soon as we are able. If you require urgent help before the 1st June, please email reception@qegsblackburn.com and we will do our best to respond as soon as possible.
Thank you again for all your support. Have a lovely bank holiday and Eid Mubarak to all of our families that are celebrating!
Best and safest wishes,
Mrs Southworth and the Primary Phase Team

We would like to share 2 documents with you to assist with home learning. The first is here, which details guidance on how to help primary phase children with their home learning. The second, here, is a list of websites to support your home learning.

There have been some new online resources created by Thinkuknow, who are the education programme from NCA-CEOP (the online Child Protection command of the National Crime Agency). The resources found via this link and have been created to support parents during COVID-19 and the closure of schools.
Each fortnight, we will be releasing new home activity packs with simple 15 minute activities you can do with your child to support their online safety at a time when they will spending more time online at home.
They also have a parental help sheet that can be accessed here to support staying safe online.

I hope that you are all safe and well and you are continuing to stay positive in these uncertain times. To all of you who are amid the holy month of Ramadan we wish you a blessed month. All the staff and myself hope that you enjoyed the photo message we shared with you last Friday and I know many of our staff were very emotional when they saw the finished montage. We really are missing all of you and look forward to seeing your faces, hopefully very soon.
I know that we are all eagerly waiting for the Government announcement on Thursday next week which will discuss steps to come out of lockdown, but I doubt that this will mean schools opening as normal immediately. There is much speculation, but from our point of view, we think there will be at least a couple more weeks of learning in the current way and again we want to support you as much as possible.
After parental and staff feedback, we are aware that some parents are really enjoying the grid tasks but some parents preferred the weekly/daily timetables to follow. With that in mind, we have decided to provide both options and you can select the method that suits you and your home life the best.
As it is the 75th VE Day anniversary next week, we have linked the home learning for the next two weeks to this special event and also added in some more Spring tasks too. As before, you still have access to lots of other web links within the folder and from the staff posts on either, Class Charts or Class Dojo. We hope you like the activities!
The home learning grids can be found here and they can also be accessed via the school website within the ‘Letters to Parents’ section of the Primary Phase. We have created this timetable of the day to be used alongside the learning grids.
Please keep in touch and send us pictures, videos or messages, we love to see all the wonderful things that you are getting up to at home. It is the highlight of our day! In addition, we like to share them on our website too. Thank you again for working so hard and please feel free to email and ask us for anything you need.
Warmest and safest wishes,
Mrs Southworth and the Primary Phase Team

I hope you are keeping well and enjoying the sunshine we are currently experiencing.
We would like to share something with you and your children that we have made, to keep spirits up and let you know we are thinking (and missing!) you all. We would love it if you could watch the video with your children as we hope it will make them very excited to see all the staff here at QEGS.

I hope you are all keeping safe and well and that you have managed to enjoy some of the lovely sunshine we are blessed with at the moment.
Today marks the 5th week of distance learning and I know this is a challenge for everyone. In addition to the home learning grids that we sent on Friday I wanted to send you links to a few more resources. Please do not feel under pressure to undertake every activity or element of the home learning, but know that we just want to give you everything that we feel you may find helpful. You can pick and choose what you feel will work for you and your family.
I wanted to make you all aware that you can all still access the weekly timetables, online links for White Rose, past SATs paper, Pobble365, Kent Science and all the other online art and craft activities through the Folders in this link and if you are struggling to access this, then please email your child’s teacher and they will be able to give you the links for specific activities you would like to complete.
We would also like to signpost you to the Government-created teacher lessons. The lessons are directed at particular year groups with a 3 hours per day time frame and have resources and videos to work through. They have been created by a team of specialist teachers to aid the home learning process. These lessons are daily have begun today covering maths, English and another curriculum area. They can be accessed via this link.
Finally, I have attached a PDF here with some fun STEM activities for you to try, or you could try writing something for the QEGS blog and submit your entries to kmakba@qegsblackburn.com.
Please remember we are all in this together and if you need us for anything at all, just message and ask and will do our best to help!
Take care everyone, stay safe and keep smiling!
Mrs Southworth

Thank you for your continued support in recent days and weeks as we manage our response to the partial closure of school. We wanted to reassure you that we continue to adhere to local and Government guidance as well as following our internal emergency planning.
It is vital that during this current closure our pupils are provided with home learning, which is age appropriate.
Please see you child’s Class Charts or Class Dojo page to find a timetable, plan and relevant website links for you to use at home next week. We will be uploading similar documents each week to ensure that we provide you with best possible support whilst the children are not in school. Everything that we are sending home for our pupils is saved in folders within this link.
Please keep in regular contact with your child’s Form Teacher/s via email and by uploading your child’s completed work using videos and photos via Class charts/ Class Dojo. All teachers email addresses will be posted on their Class charts or Class Dojo page.
Should you require any further support please telephone the Primary Phase office (01254686311) and we will be happy to get back to you.
I want to take this opportunity to thank parents for being so understanding and supportive in what is a very difficult time for everyone.
Best wishes,
Mrs Southworth and the whole Primary Phase Team
