Pupils in Year 12 were given an insight into how the UCAS (The Universities and Colleges Admissions service) process works.

Students participated in workshops on applying to university, personal statements and apprenticeships. In the evening parents were invited into school and were presented with talks on finance and how best to support their child through the UCAS process.

Representatives from Edge Hill University, Cumbria University and Ask (Apprenticeship Support and Knowledge in schools and colleges) all shared their knowledge with parents. Old Boy Raiyan Hussain also spoke about his experiences applying to university and offered students tips on how to apply for accommodation and budgeting.

Ms Ash, Deputy Head of Sixth Form said, “The feedback we have had from this event is extremely positive and students and parents have said how much more confident they are in knowing how the process works”.
