Batteries contain so many harmful substances that if simply placed into landfill seriously damage our environment.  As a school we are taking part in a National Schools Initiative to reduce the number of batteries going into landfill by increasing the number of batteries being recycled.

Primary Phase, Year 7 and Year 8 pupils all have collection boxes to fill, however, any member of the school community can add to their collection.

This is also a national competition in which pupils and schools can win a large number of prizes from IPad’s, to subscriptions and trips away.

The large recycling container will arrive over the Easter break and will be placed in the entrance to the Holden Laboratories for anybody to deposit their batteries into.

The competition closes on June 1st, so please get collecting and recycling as many batteries as you can.  It would be fantastic if we all support this event and begin to make an immediate impact on reducing the number of batteries going into landfill, polluting our world.
