Head of Year 8, Mr Brierley, organised a group of staff to attempt the ‘Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge ’.
On the first day of half term, a bleary eyed group of nine staff and two dogs arrived at school at 5 am arriving in Horton in Ribblesdale by 6 am. Pen-y-Ghent was steep and dry. Whernside was never ending and wet and Ingleborough felt big and Everestlike.
Mr Green entertained with his ‘did you know’ facts ( which they didn’t!) and the chat was lively and upbeat the whole way round. If a little bit more gasping on the steeper bits.
The ‘young ones’ ( Mr Brierley, Mr Cunningham and Miss Ellis) scampered off at the front with the rest trundling on behind arriving back in Horton in Ribblesdale before 5 pm.
Sore feet and the odd strained muscle but no ambulances, oxygen cylinders or hearses required.
A really great day.
