Six talented students in Year 12 Form have successfully secured places onto the CyberFirst and In4groups’s prestigious  MEGA Scholarship Programme, an exciting new initiative aimed at opening doors to future careers in tech and cybersecurity. Blackburn with Darwen is proud to be the first area to take part in this innovative programme, which invites students from all backgrounds to apply, even those without a formal qualification in computing.

The MEGA Scholarship Programme, which offered 50 spaces across schools and colleges in Blackburn and Darwen, provides a fantastic opportunity for young people to explore future careers in the rapidly growing tech and cyber sectors. While the programme is focused on preparing students for roles in the digital world, it welcomes applicants from all disciplines, ensuring that the opportunity is open to everyone, regardless of their current course of study.

The benefits of the MEGA Scholarship Programme are wide-ranging. Successful applicants receive valuable career insights through workshops and mock assessment centres, as well as workplace visits to major tech companies. Additionally, they are given the opportunity to work on real-world projects, gaining a real insight into how the industry works. Each student who gains a place is also given £1000 to cover tech equipment to help them learn more from this experience.
