The Senior School Library at QEGS has been awarded ‘Gold’ by SLS (Schools Library Service), following 2 years of extensive evidence collating by Senior School Librarian, Mrs Dewhurst.

SLS, who work with schools to help them develop hubs for learning, exploration and self-development, awarded QEGS the top award after recognising the opportunities on offer for pupils across the Primary Phase, Senior Phase and for students in Sixth Form.

Mrs Dewhurst, who has worked at QEGS for 15 years, said: “After 2 years of hard work in applying for this award, I am so pleased that we have achieved SLS ‘Gold’ status. It is a great honour and I feel very proud that our library has been given this recognition. We try our best in school to give pupils and students a range of opportunities to support their studies in all subjects and it is fantastic to see this recognised by SLS. The award is also endorsed by the School Library Association.”

On behalf of all the staff, pupils and students, we would like to say thank you to SLS and a special ‘congratulations’ to Mrs Dewhurst for this achievement.
