For the last few years, QEGS staff have held a celebratory evening, breaking the fast during the period of Ramadan with friends from within and outside the Muslim community. The opportunity to share good food and friendly conversation has made it one of the highlights of the school calendar.
Unfortunately, it is not going to be possible to have the evening in the same format this year. However, we are keen to ensure that the QEGS community enjoys a modified version of the celebration and ask our school community to fast and break fast together, on the 15th May 2020.
Below are 3 steps for you to complete to help us make this year’s event a success:
Stage One
Members of the QEGS Community have sent in recipes for you to create on Friday 15th May. These can be viewed, here.
Stage Two
You will then be asked on Friday 15th May to make one of the recipes above, to share with your family that evening. We are also asking as many members of the QEGS community to fast this day, as long as you are in good health to do so, in support of those fasting for the whole month of Ramadan.
Stage Three
Finally, during the preparation of the meal (and the eating!) on the 15th May we would like you to send in photos or short videos (ideally no longer than 10 seconds) to help us make a special video to commemorate this occasion.
Photos and videos need to be captured in landscape on a good quality camera (a smart phone is fine). Feel free to send a mix of photos and videos for us to select from your preparing and eating so we can show both essential parts of the process!
Please send in the videos and photos by the evening of Monday 18th May to Miss Avery via gavery@qegsblackburn.com. We will then aim to have the videos and photos on display on the school website and on our social media ahead of EID on Saturday 23rd May/Sunday 24th May.
We look forward to an enjoyable celebration and hope members of our QEGS community will take part.
