On Friday 9th June, a group of talented musicians from Years 7 and 9 were invited to take part in a summer concert at St.Catherine’s Church, Burnley. The concert helped to raise over £500 for a drop-in centre that benefits people in need in the local area.

Year 7 pupil, Ben Brown, gave a majestic performance of ‘Triumphal March’ by Verdi on the cornet which is one of his grade 5 pieces; we wish him the very best of luck in his upcoming examination.

Year 9 GCSE Music pupil, Jonathan Baker gave a theatrical rendition of ‘Puttin’ on the Ritz’ in true Fred Astaire fashion. His showmanship and vocal skill delighted the audience. This was a fantastic debut solo performance from Jonathan; here’s to the first of many!

All pupils, including Ruby Erswell (9), Charlie Atkinson (7), Isabelle Mullan (9), and Jonathan McCann (7) performed Mozart’s ‘Dona Nobis Pacem’ and a musical medley with the other performers at the concert.

Miss Cockshott, Subject Leader for Music said, “Superb performances by QEGS Pupils, we really are proud of the musical talent we have here at QEGS.”

Rehearsals are ongoing for the QEGS annual trinity term Teatime Concert on Thursday 29th June which will be held in the Dining Hall from 5pm -6pm.  Everyone is welcome to attend.
