This term we received a lovely message via our social media page Facebook – QEGSBlackburn from a former QEGS pupil, Phil Greenwood.

“QEGS, and in particular Dr. Butler gave me a lifetime of sport that I am enterally grateful for.  The wide-ranging sporting experiences I encountered at QEGS were incomparable, and thanks to these I have gone on to work as a strength and conditioning coach at;
Edinburgh Rugby
Scottish rugby
Blackburn Rovers FC
Leinster rugby
Tranmere Rovers FC
Blackpool FC
And now at Ulster Rugby whilst also working with many different sportsmen and women on a consultancy basis. If it hadn’t been for the excellent sporting opportunities QEGS offered I don’t believe this would have been possible so thank you to the school and PE staff.”

In response, Dr Butler, Head of Physical Education and Games, said ” I’m humbled and suffice to say very proud to receive this message. Our school has a long-standing and deserved reputation for the quality of its sports provision and for playing sport both competitively and fairly. Queen Elizabeth’s Grammar School pupils benefit from excellent sports facilities and the school’s Playing Fields at Lammack are a hive of activity most Saturday mornings.”

On behalf of everyone here at QEGS – Well done Phil Greenwood on your outstanding achievements!
