On Monday 18th December, pupils, students, staff and parents all gathered in the wonderful surroundings of Big School, to attend the second in a series of Teatime Concerts.

The concert began with a captivating performance from Year 7 pupil, Amber Beech who sang, ‘O Holy Night.’ The whole school very much enjoyed listening to Amber perform again, as soloist at the annual Carol Service, which took place at Blackburn Cathedral.

Choir ensembles included, ‘Carol of the Bells’ accompanied by Mrs Tattersall and Miss Nolan on handbells, ‘Cantemos,’ a lively Spanish piece, accompanied on percussion by Miss Chapelhow and A level Music students, Jenson Gibson and Toby Saxty, who also performed, ‘On a Cold Dark Night’ written by local composer, Peter Rose.

The Concert Band gave their debut performance under the direction of Miss Chapelhow, they performed the folk song, ‘The Wellerman.’ Our Year 7 pupils provided a dynamic accompaniment with beautifully haunting lead vocals from Amber Beech.

  • Rohan Gupta performed a piano medley

  • Jenson Gibson – Kit’s Five
  • Ben Henderson – Down on the Floor, Ben Beer
  • Ben Brown – Daydream Believer, Stewart

The audience enjoyed hearing the vocal skills of the following pupils and students:

  • Angelina Jones – Memory, Lloyd Webber
  • Zara Babu – The Dormouse’s Carol, Poston
  • Marwan Younes – Believer, Imagine Dragons
  • Ruby Erswell – Supermarket Flowers, Ed Sheeran
  • Lydia Swindell – On the Steps of the Palace, Sondheim
  • Daniel Ullas – Walking in the Air, Blake
  • Annabelle Whittle – Hello, Adele
  • Isabelle Mullan – Snowman, Sia

The concert concluded with a mature performance of, ‘White Christmas’ by Year 10 pupil Jonathan Baker, and with the audience being welcomed to join all our performers in singing, ‘Winter Wonderland’ and ‘We Wish You a Merry Christmas’ provided a fitting end to another wonderful concert.
