Year 9 Pupils recently took part in Medical Day.
This was hosted by two undergraduate Medical School students from MCS who delivered sessions on Emergency First Aid. In these, our pupils learnt valuable life skills such as how to assess a casualty, how to position a breathing but unconscious casualty, CPR technique and how to treat someone who was choking. This was delivered very well and gave all pupils the opportunity to practise each of these responses.
In the afternoon there was an optional session in which 38 of our pupils took part in a talk given by two medical students (Aimear Wolstenholme, Anna Apara) and two doctors from ELHCT, Dr Salma Khatun and Dr Dean Hardy who both gave insight to our pupils about the pros and cons of a career in medicine.
This was very motivational and engaging and pupils interacted with visitors extremely well.
