During February half term, 38 of our Y11 GCSE Art pupils spent 2 days in Central London – highlights of the trip included Buckingham Palace, The Mall, Leicester Square, The National Gallery, Covent Garden and the Victoria and Albert Museum.

The trip helped the pupils develop their own creative ideas via investigations and demonstrating critical and contextual understanding of sources.

All the venues visited provided excellent educational experiences for the pupils and the cultural and historical significance of familiar, and not so familiar, landmarks were highlighted throughout the trip and very much enjoyed, and appreciated, by everyone.

Pupils feedback included:

“I enjoyed the British sections of the V&A museum, seeing the development of a culture was interesting, I especially liked the tapestries”.

“I enjoyed the Art History scavenger hunt in the V&A and seeing all the sights which were explained to us as we passed them”.

“The teamwork theme of the trip brought everyone together and made us all feel part of London”.

“I loved every part of it, what a brilliant trip”.

And our staff were as positive about the pupils too, “the camaraderie on the visit at every point was outstanding, from team singing on the coach to looking out for each other when at the amazing venues. Each pupil was polite in any interactions with gallery staff or and other members of the public. There was real sense of teamwork from start to finish”.

“Wonderfully enjoyable! Our pupils were a credit to themselves and our QEGS community”.

Sounds like an amazing trip!
