GCSE Art Trip to London

During February half term, our GCSE Art pupils enjoyed an exciting and enriching two‑day trip to London. Their itinerary was packed with iconic locations, including Trafalgar Square, Leicester Square, The National Gallery, Covent Garden, China Town, Tate Modern, The Shard, the V&A Museum, and South Kensington.

Throughout the visit, pupils developed their ideas through first‑hand investigations, building strong critical and contextual understanding. The experience offered a rich blend of cultural capital, history, and architecture, all of which will support their GCSE coursework.

Travelling around the city on the London Underground was a highlight for many, adding to the sense of adventure. Staff were incredibly proud of the pupils’ behaviour — they were polite, respectful, and consistently supportive of one another. Their camaraderie, especially while navigating busy venues and Tube stations, was outstanding.

The educational, historical, and cultural experiences gained over the two days were invaluable, and the pupils returned inspired, motivated, and full of new ideas for their work. This year’s Creative London visit proved to be a tremendous success and a thoroughly enjoyable experience for all involved. Guided by our trip ethos of building resilience, self-confidence and teamwork, our pupils represented the school with pride.
Pupil evaluations:
· In London, I had such an amazing experience exploring and discovering new Artists and their work. · The edition this year of Tate modern to the trip gave me a new perspective on what Art can be.
· I’ve never been on a Tube or anything like it, Mr Windle and the other Teachers made me feel very safe although there was lots of people that seemed from all over the world!
· We received lots of guidance about the Art works and how we could link them to our projects which was really good. The teachers were really helpful and really funny! Furthermore the free time allowed for an amazing balance of fun and education making London an unforgettable experience for us all.
