Dear Parents and Carers,
This will be my last Friday letter of this academic year and I hope that it finds you safe, well, and looking forward to some well-deserved down time away from home learning.
Please continue to send in your home learning videos to Mrs Bamber at homelearning@qegsblackburn.com. Mrs Bamber will announce the winner towards the end of next week. The home learning email address will be monitored once a week during the holidays, so please feel free to share any work or exciting experiences you undertake during the summer break.
Next week, in addition to the home learning grids, we would like all of our pupils to join in the ‘QEGS 1 mile’ Fun Run which has been organised by the PE department on Tuesday 7th July. All children in the school will be taking part in their bubbles and we would like as many of you at home to send us videos and images of you undertaking the one-mile challenge. Once you have taken your photos, please send them to gavery@QEGSBlackburn.com. As it is for two charitable causes, we have set up a QEGS ‘Just Giving’ page to which all donations can be made, here. We are asking for a £2 contribution for pupils taking part but should individuals wish to offer more, that would be much appreciated. All charities need support in these unprecedented times and none more so that the ‘Breast Cancer Now’ and ‘Children with Cancer UK’.
I would also like to take this opportunity to remind you once more of our transition videos which we will be releasing next Tuesday to introduce each new class teacher. In addition to this, we will be holding our annual ‘Primary Phase Prizegiving’ ceremony on Wednesday 8th July, although it will take place virtually this year. Please tune in to our Facebook page from 8am where videos and prize winners will be shared throughout the day.
Just a reminder that reports will be sent out after our Prizegiving event next Wednesday, and on Thursday 9th July, we will be posting messages for our current Year 6 leavers, so please keep checking our social media and website for more information.
As you may be aware Government announcements will continue to take place during the summer period and we will share any relevant information with regards to the start of the new academic year with you as soon as possible via our usual communication platforms.
I just wanted to end this letter by saying a huge thank you to all of you for coping and adapting so well to the home learning. We know it hasn’t been easy for anyone, especially when many of you have been working from home. We have seen so much wonderful work and experiences that we wouldn’t normally see, so please know that we are extremely proud of all of your efforts! A huge well done and thank you to all of our parents and carers.
Warmest and safest wishes,
Mrs Southworth and the Primary Phase Team
