JOHN EDWARD CLEGG JR. (OB 84-94)

It is with great sadness that we have to report the passing of Old Blackburnian Edward Clegg.  Edward was at school from 1984 until 1994 and in that time he made a great many friends and shone in the many stage productions he performed in.  In 1993 he appeared as a very snooty Pooh Bar in the Mikado and was the lead in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dream Coat.  A tremendous ‘write up’ with photographs of these productions can be found in the Summer 1993 Blackburnian magazine.  In his final year Edward also played Teen Angel in the school’s production of Grease, a performance which many of his friends thought to be better than that of Teen Angel in the film.

Edward was artistically and creatively talented which led to a successful and award winning career in London where he was a hairdresser working mainly on catwalk shows and fashion editorials, as well as with major model agencies, travelling the world, particularly with Givenchy and Alexander McQueen.

Edward returned to his home town of Preston several years ago to be closer to family and help in the family business. He died suddenly, but peacefully on 15th May 2019.

If you would like to celebrate Edward’s life and share your memories, his funeral is on Monday 10th June 2019 at 3.15pm, Preston Crematorium.
