In the run-up to Remembrance Day, pupils in Year 6 studied ‘In Flanders Fields’ by John McCrae; they looked at the atmosphere the poem created and the images it conjured up. The layout of the poem was studied in detail.

Pupils then wrote their own versions of the poem; they were poignant, and atmospheric and showed empathy to the plight of the soldiers.

Pupils thoroughly enjoyed writing the poems and the work produced was to a very high standard.
