QEGS was delighted to see their pupils rewarded with some excellent examination grades. This is a fantastic achievement considering the impact that the Covid pandemic has had on this cohort of children.

Overall 32% of pupils achieved at least one grade 8 or 9, the very highest attainment grades, with 53% of pupils achieving at least one grade 7 or higher. 81% gained at least 5 grades 4 and above which is an amazing achievement considering QEGS offers a traditional set of GCSE subjects, with pupils taking 10 or 11 GCSE subjects including compulsory Languages and Humanities alongside the core subjects of English, Mathematics and the Sciences.

The combined English GCSE grades were extremely strong with the percentage of pupils achieving grades 9 to 5 and grades 9 to 4 being 77% and 89% respectively.

It was particularly pleasing to celebrate the results in Biology, Chemistry, Classical Civilisation, Religious Studies, Further Mathematics and Physics in which the percentages achieving the highest grades, grades 9 to 7 were 46%, 52%, 40%, 36%, 38% and 57% respectively.

Classical Civilisation, English Language, English Literature and Further Mathematics all achieved 80% and above in the percentage grade 9-4 measure with Biology, Chemistry, Religious Studies, Music, and Physics achieving 94%, 96%, 91%, 100% and 94% respectively in this measure.

Biology, Chemistry, Further Mathematics, Music, Physics and Religious Studies all achieved over 75% in the percentage grade 9-5 measure.

We are delighted that the hard work, resilience and commitment of our pupils has been rewarded with such excellent results.

Many of our pupils are returning to QEGS for their Sixth Form education. We also look forward to enrolling external students over the next two days. For more information about the Sixth Form, please telephone 01254 686300 or visit www.qegsblackburn.com/sixth .
