The Department for Education has released the latest A Level Progress (Value Added) Scores, and QEGS Sixth Form is celebrating a strong performance that reflects the dedication of its students and staff.
The newly published data measures how much academic progress students make between the end of Key Stage 4 and the completion of their A Level studies. This national measure—commonly referred to as the ‘value added’ score—helps parents, students and schools understand how effectively sixth forms support learners across their two years of study.
For the 2024/2025 academic year, QEGS Sixth Form achieved an A Level Progress Score of +0.03, placing QEGS as one of the best-performing Sixth Forms in Lancashire in terms of progress.
Head of Sixth Form, Mr M Hindle, expressed his pride in the achievement, emphasising that it reflects the school’s long-standing commitment to high-quality teaching, strong pastoral support, and a culture where students are encouraged to achieve their personal best.
“We are extremely pleased with our Value Added Score this year,” said Mrs C Gammon, Head. “It is a real credit to our dedicated teaching staff, our exceptional facilities, and—most importantly—the hard work and ambition of our students. We are delighted that their efforts have been recognised and that our students continue to benefit from the high-quality education we provide.”
The positive outcome reinforces QEGS Sixth Form’s reputation as a leading destination for post-16 study in the region. Staff continue to focus on providing a supportive environment where students not only thrive academically but also develop the skills, confidence and character needed for future success.
As the school community celebrates this achievement, QEGS remains committed to continuous improvement and to ensuring that every student receives the very best educational experience.
