The first day of the Championships took place in Liverpool where Baylie competed in the 400 Individual Medley, this was her first time competing in this event in a Long Course pool and she has only ever raced it 3 times in a short course pool. Her aim was to finish in under 6 minutes, she cut it close but managed to do so with just 0.3 of a second to go!
The next 2 weekends took place at Manchester Aquatics Centre. It was an eventful few weekends with plenty of ups, some downs and an evacuation of the Aquatics Centre, which saw Baylie and her fellow swimmers out on the streets of Manchester wrapped in foil blankets to keep warm – luckily this wasn’t for too long and everyone was back inside within around 15 minutes.
The Championships ended on a huge high for Baylie who swam a Personal Best to gain a place in the final of the last event of the competition – the 100m Butterfly.
Baylie had also swam a PB the weekend before and qualified for the 50m Butterfly U14 Final in 7th place where she then swam her way to finish in 6th!
Over the whole of the Championships, Baylie swam 12 events and made 2 finals, swam 8 new Personal Best times and gained 4 new Regional Qualification Times bringing her current total to 8.
