Fourteen, Year 7 pupils enjoyed the glorious sunshine, as they walked to Blackburn Town Hall on Monday, 20th June to commemorate Armed Forces Day (Saturday 25th June).

Armed Forces Day gives everyone the opportunity to show their support and give thanks to the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community – from currently serving troops to service families, veterans, and cadets.

Leading proceedings within Blackburn was the Mayor, Councillor Suleman Khonat, who was joined by the deputy Lord Lieutenant of Lancashire Kam Kothia OBE DL, Council Leader Councillor Phil Riley, Chief Executive Denise Park and The Very Reverend Peter Howell- Jones, Dean of Blackburn.

Following short speeches by both the Mayor and the deputy Lord Lieutenant the armed forces day flag was hoisted to fly proudly over Blackburn.

Pupils were delighted to be able to speak with the Mayor at the end of the ceremony about this important celebration.

Once again, our pupils did us proud!
