QEGS Pupils Triumph at Blackburn College MEGAHub Cyber and Esports Tournament

Blackburn College played host to the MEGAHub Cyber and Esports Blackburn Tournament — a one-day event marking the exciting finale of the Cyber and Esports Super Curricular programme, which has been running in schools across Blackburn with Darwen throughout the academic year.

Mrs. Powell accompanied eight Year 9 pupils from QEGS, all of whom had participated in the in-school Cyber and Esports sessions. At the event, they joined peers from other schools to take part in a fast-paced Cyber Challenge Zone and an action-packed Esports Tournament.

Throughout the day, pupils worked in mixed teams, rotating between the two tracks. Both activities were hands-on and highly engaging, with students fully immersing themselves in the challenges and showcasing strong teamwork, problem-solving, and communication skills.

The highlight of the day came when QEGS Team C emerged victorious in the Cyber Challenge Zone. After completing a range of cybersecurity-based tasks, the team clinched first place, earning gold medals, a £15 Amazon voucher each, and a winner’s shield in recognition of their outstanding performance.

All eight pupils represented QEGS with pride, demonstrating maturity, enthusiasm, and teamwork. They were excellent ambassadors for the school and a credit to the QEGS community.

Team C consisted of:

Ibraheem Arif Yusuf Munshi

Jonathan Semple

Rafay Arain

Yayha Bhana

The other Year 9 pupils who attended were:

Umar Ravat

Adeel Jouher

Alex Zhou

Joseph Analou Smith

Well done to all the pupils and many thanks to Blackburn College for hosting such an amazing event.
